Top 5 Things I Love About Being A Computer Programmer
There are those times where I love my job and those times where I hate my job. I will discuss the Top 5 Things I Love about Being a Computer Programmer in no particular order.
- It’s Mentally Stimulating – Let’s face it there’s nothing more mentally stimulating than trying to solve a difficult problem. I don’t know how many times I get a programming task and it’s always a new challenge. Thinking about the task and the logic behind the completion of that task is mind bending. I always think about the logic in my head try it and then tweak it until the tasks does what I want it to do. Programming by far is one of the most mentally stimulating jobs out there.
- It’s Never The Same – I like variety and each job and project is always something new. When you work in different industries (telecom, finance, travel, insurance) they all have different business logic. With each job I’ve had always acquired more knowledge about a industry. Each company and each project has always used different technologies. Variety is the life of being a computer programmer.
- A Sense Of Accomplishment – I love the sense of accomplished when I complete a task. It’s also nice to know that someone is using software that I have developed. Feeling useful is something that makes me proud to be a computer programmer.
- Flexibility – Most of the companies I have worked for are very flexible. Usually most companies I have allowed workers to work flexible schedules. The ability for me to come in to work early and leave early is a benefit that I truly like.
- Respect – I have found that being a computer programmer you tend to get more respect than other professions. Really though I have found the more money you make the better you get treated (This excludes companies that micromanage).
This is my top 5 reasons why I love being a computer programmer.
