iamacp.com Is 3 Years Old

It’s hard to believe that my blog is 3 years old this month. It seems like only yesterday I started this site was a way to share my experiences as computer programmer with the world. Things have changes quite a bit for the better since starting it. I also  have learned many things since I started this blog.

  • Becoming A Expert Job Promoter: I have become a expert at promoting myself when job hunting time comes. I have also learned how to better localize my job hunt and not have to worry about taking jobs in crappy locations. Nobody should have to settle to work in a undesirable location because they don’t have enough contacts to find work.
  • Don’t Do Business With Desi Consulting Companies : I will not ever do business with companies that support and encourage job loss for American citizens.  In my past experience desi firms will almost always offer the lowest rates. Many of these desi firms don’t understand the word no or just get that you’re not interested. I was called by 1 recruiter a average of 2 times a day for a week. I never returned the call but you’d think they’d get it after the 2nd or 3rd attempt but it took 7 more tries before they realized it.
  • Programming Is Not Rocket Science : Despite what the average person things programming is not rocket science. After a few years the biggest challenge that you will probably face is mastering the companies framework and understanding how to program business requirements in the scope of that framework.

These are some of of the most important lessons I have learned in the past 3 years since starting this blog.
